The Green Guard Environmental Monitoring System has reached a new level: the Citizen Science program has been launched, which demonstrates the functioning of environmental data collection and analysis with the active involvement of the population. The goal is for as many people as possible to experience firsthand how the system works and what role data plays in urban environmental protection.
During the program, participants can learn about the measuring instruments, gain insight into the sampling processes, and jointly interpret the measured data. The events take place in community venues, in an interactive format, led by experts.
Among the first stops of the initiative, residents of the district were able to examine the measuring device installed at the Vezér Street pond under the professional guidance of Prof. Dr. László Stündl.
At the next stops of the program series, participants were able to learn about the operation of the measuring points up close in several districts. In Józsa, at the measuring station on Klastrompart Street, Prof. Dr. Sándor Kéki led the tour, while in the courtyard of the retirement home on Szávay Gyula Street, Dr. Zsolt Dombrádi, director of HUN-REN ATOMKI, and Miklós Kálmánczi, communications director of KER Kft., gave a professional presentation. Dr. Zsófia Kertész, an expert at HUN-REN ATOMKI, participated in the event held at the elementary school on Angyalföld Square.
